Thursday, May 15, 2014 Noise Management and Dosimetry State of the Industry
Please join the Pittsburgh AIHA on Thurs., May 15, 2014 for a half-day event at The Club At Nevillewood, located conveniently off of I-79, just outside of Pittsburgh.
The event will be a 1/2-day presentation that will address Noise Measurement and Dosimetry. The specific topics of discussion will include the following: Definitions and Physics of Sound; Proper use of a data logging noise dosimeter; OSHA regulatory requirements including elements of Hearing Conservation; and hands-on use of noise dosimeters pertaining to calibration, function, and measurements of sound pressure levels and data interpretation.

Regulations for Hearing Conservation
Whats new in hearing protection
Care and proper use of HPD’s
Fit-testing of HPD’s
And other related topics for Hearing Conservation and detection
Presenters:
Dennis Collins, COHC - Hearing Conservation Specialist with 3M is responsible for the Hearing Conservation of 3M/Quest employees. Dennis
has over 20 years experience with Quest Technologies (a 3M company) selling,
training, and providing expertise on Noise Monitors and Sound Level Meters.
Also actively promoting and training employees on the proper use of all types
of hearing protection from earplugs and muffs to communication headsets.
Dennis also provides training on the fit testing of employees for the proper
earplugs for their personal use.
Lee Hager, COHC – Senior Account Manager / Hearing Conservation
Specialist with 3M. Lee brings over 25 years experience to his position
as Hearing Consevationist for 3M, including consultation with Fortune 50
companies on hearing conservation program effectiveness. He has served as chair
of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC),
president of the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA), and chair of
the Noise Committee and Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association
(AIHA). In his role with 3M, he provides technical support on hearing
protection issues and hearing protector fit testing as well as training in
hearing loss prevention. He publishes regularly and presents internationally on
noise and hearing issues. Most of all, he cares about your ears.
July 16, 2014 - Summer Business Meeting
The Executive Committee will hold their annual Summer Business Meeting on July 16, 2014 at Aracri's Greentree Inn from 11:30 to approximately 2:00 PM. This meeting is free to attend, please confirm your attendance by completing the registration form at the right.
The preliminary agenda includes the following topics: - local section scholarship, - hot meeting topics, - possible meeting speakers, - possible local section dues increase, - student sections, - joint meetings with ASSE and others, - boosting attendance at meetings, - Corporate sponsors/Advertisers, - Fellow nominees, - possible officer nominees for next year, - Treasurer's and Secretary's reports.
