The AIHA Pittsburgh Local Section President, Mr. Matt Zock, CIH and the President-Elect, Lucinette Alvarado, CIH attended the AIHA Local Section Council Business meeting at the AIHce 2018 on Tuesday, May 22 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Room 203A-B in the Philadelphia Convention Center. Our leaders were eager to learn about the needs, interests and activities from the other local sections as well as the AIHA new/current protocols for running local sections. 

The agenda of the meeting were as follows:

1. Welcome and introductions 
2. Updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AIHA and Local Sections 
3. Update regarding proposed AIHA National Bylaws
4. Present survey results from the 2017 AIHA Local Section Membership Survey
5. Present survey results from the 2018 AIHA Student Local Section Survey regarding ABIH’s focus on early career credentials
6. Government Affairs Update with Mark Ames

They also had a treat, a leader workshop thanks to Mrs. Peggy Hoffman. The workshop was an interactive problem-solving session where the local section leaders networked with one another and left with ideas/solutions for their current local section issues.  

Our leaders gathered a lot of ideas/plans to share with our local section. Stay tuned for exciting future projects. We will work together to be a successful local section!​

The Executive Committee has scheduled the Summer 2018 Business meeting for Thursday, July 12 at Steel Cactus in the South Side from 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM.  All local section members are welcome to attend.  If you would like to have input into the year's events, learn more about how we operate, help out, or network, please plan to attend.  Seating is limited.

Pittsburgh AIHA Members are invited to attend the WP ASSP Networking Event Happy Hour at Cadillac Ranch in Robinson PA immediately after the tour at Industrial Scientific.  Cost of the Networking Event Happy Hour is $25 and will cover pizza/hoagies and admission.  Register online for the Networking Event!  You must register for each event (Tour and Networking Event) separately.
