Updated Abstract: The soon-to-be-published ISO 45001 Standard has been called one of the most significant consensus standard development activities in the last 50 years. Its potential to radically shift the development and delivery of occupational health and safety management globally is being watched by many OSH professionals. With less than a year before its expected publication, it is not too early to be begin preparing your organization. This presentation will provide a framework for understanding the ISO standard setting process and the role of the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for ISO Program Committee (PC) 283 in advancing US position on the development of the standard. It will also cover the development of a strategic plan within your organization in advance of and following the standard’s final publication.
